Is your classic Mercedes handling funny? The answer may be a bit shocking!
If your classic Benz is eating tires or steering funny while braking on the freeway, your shock absorbers may have worn out.
Typically when they finally have blown is when you see hydraulic oil leaking down the shock body. It's a safety issue because when your shocks fail, they don't keep the tire firmly planted onto the road surface, causing the tires to "cup" and wear prematurely.
Also braking at speed becomes hazardous as the tire is bouncing up and down onto the pavement, only grabbing the surface when the tire comes down.
