Parts for the W201 Chassis Mercedes-Benz, Manufactured from 1983-1993. These vehicles were the first compact executive cars release by Mercdes-Benz, introduced in 1982 and later giving birth to what would become known as the C-Class. The W201 features an angular body-style inherited from the W126 S-Class Chassis, but the chassis platform differed widely. It was the first Mercedes with an innovative 5-link rear suspension, subsequently used on both E and C class models for many years to come. Being the first compact sedan created by Mercedes-Benz, much of the engineering effort was put into numerous features related to passenger safety. For example, it was the first production vehicle in history to feature ligh-weight high strength steel which is now standard in car design. All W201 models featured the designation '190' or '190D' although these were not indicative of the engine size as was standard for most models up until that era. These included models with 2.3L and 2.5L 16-valve gasoline engines, and the extremely fuel efficient 2.5L turbo-diesel engine. While not very popular in the US, the W201 had strong sales in Europe during it's 11 years in production.
