Product Feature: Fintail Brake Boosters
This week in our product feature newsletter, I wanted to highlight the multiple different brake boosters that were found in Fintail models over the years.
Fortunately all three of these boosters are still available new, Genuine Mercedes-Benz. If you have a Fintail and you plan to keep it for many more years to come, I might suggest you acquire one before they are discontinued for good.
Early Fintails had a brake booster that was mounted near the headlight, not the firewall as found in later models.
Even so, there are two versions of the booster near the headlight:
This booster shown above is found in select early W110 and W111 sedans (and maybe a few oddball coupes).
This booster shown above is slightly larger and was found in select W111 220SB and 220SEB models, W112 300SE sedans and coupes, as well as some W198 300SL models.
We have one "open box" booster in this style in stock at our facility in Oregon. It's brand new, unused, genuine Mercedes-Benz (ATE), and does not include the original box, so we are selling it at a discounted price of $1,265.00 USD. That's $225 off list!
This later model booster is mounted on the firewall. The original firewall-mounted booster for some later W111 models is no longer available, but this one can be used in its place. You must make some other small adjustments in order to install this, please read the listing for more detailed information.
As you can see, interchange information on all of these parts is complicated. We highly encourage you to submit your year, model and VIN if you're wanting to purchase a brake booster for your classic Mercedes. Brakes are high stakes and we want to ensure you have the best possible stopping power to protect you and and your loved ones (including your Benz).
