W126 Chassis
Parts for the W126 Chassis Mercedes-Benz, Manufactured from 1979-1991. These vehicles were released in 1979 and featured a twelve-year production run, the longest of any S-Class chassis. The angular design of the W126 Mercedes was a huge departure from the curves of its predecessor the W116 Chassis. Much of the engineering of its design was in order to gain fuel efficiency through lighter metals and better aerodynamics. The W126 featured a large number of features not found on most other passenger vehicles of the time, such as airbags, ABS, seat position memory presets, seatbelth pretensioners, and heated seats. In 1985/1986 the W126 Chassis received a facelift and a number of new features. Unlike other chassis facelifts, this was essentially a completely separate series, as an entirely new set of models were released with engines not offered in the first series. The initial series included straight-six and V8 gasoline models as well as the famous OM617 5-cyliner 3.0L turbo-diesel engine in the 300SD model. The second series featured the less-popular OM603 series of 6-cylinder diesel engines in the 300SDL, 350SD and 350SDL models, however it brought us the 5.6L M117 engine in 560SE, 560SEL and 560SEC models. The W126 coupe models were released in 1981 and replaced the C107 chassis coupes, thus serving as the SLC models of their time, until the release of the R129 chassis. These hard-to-find V8 W126 coupes are thus a great find for enthusiasts and collectors and will surely continue to rise in value.
